Welcome to VIP!
It's been known for quite some time that a viral infection of a cell changes the cellular gene expression profile. However, a systemic look at how the expression of all cellular genes changes has not been readily available.
What is VIP?
VIP, short for Virtual Infection Project, focuses on the changes of viral and cellular transcripts during an infection by the Human or Mouse Cytomegalovirus (HCMV/MCMV).
Using the VIP search engine below, you can easily look at the levels of cellular transcripts during CMV infections, and when particular viral genes are expressed, in addition to standard annotations of the cellular and viral transcripts.
How to use VIP?
We have designed VIP to be as easy as possible to use. Just follow the instructions and go through the next 3 simple steps!
Step 1 of 3: Start by selecting a type of gene identifier for your query and typing it in the search field on the left below, then press the Go button.

||A hit that's absent and doesn't change
